Peony Bouquet: Sold

This Spring has been a fabulous peony season.    These delicate flowers have an ethereal scent and quality that are a challenge.   Can you capture a "scent" in paint?   Anyway, this painting was done from life in my little home studio.  It is available in my Etsy shop.

English Rhodies: Sold

The rhododendrons in Cornwall, England, are huge and lush.    This painting is from a photo taken on a walking trip in that beautiful corner of the world.

Single Hydrangea: Sold

This painting was done in my home studio from a photo.    The many shades of blues, purples and pinks of this hydrangea were enticing.

Two Big Slicers and a Roma: Sold

Tomatoes are more than just food, to me (any many home gardeners) they are sculptures.   It is great fun to paint their many shades of red.

Poppy Field in Cornwall,England: Sold

This painting is from a photograph taken on a walking tour of Cornwall last June.   The poppies were spectacular, and the landscape could have been Italy or Province -- except for the rugged dramatic coastline, and the English accents.    For more visit:

Tuscan Road: Sold

This painting of a dirt road in Tuscany is from a photo taken on a recent trip.    I added a lot of red to offset the strong greens in the cyprus trees.

Bainbridge Island Ferry: Sold

I used an orange undercoat on this painting and let some of it show through, which seems to gray down and unify the colors.    Washington often has a muted tone in its atmosphere, so I like the effect.

Mount Rainier and Dahlia Fields: Sold

There used to be a dahlia farm in Pierce County that featured five acres of blooming dahlias each August and September.   My husband and I would go there every year to select new tubers for our garden, and to ooh and aah over the fabulous views of Mt. Rainier.    This painting is from a photo, and brings back some great memories.

Red Primrose: Sold

It's almost Spring, and I'm starting to dream.   Can't wait to get out in the garden.   This velvety red primrose will have to do for now.   I used lots of paint on this one.
