Maui Orchids:Sold

I came upon these beautiful white fairy orchids while on a walk in Maui one year. They were sitting in pots in an old shed - a rather unlikely place it seemed to me. They were just waiting to be painted.

Seattle Spring: Sold

This piece was painted from a photo taken last Spring on a gorgeous day in the Seattle Arboretum. I used lots of thick paint, and just tried to capture the soft colors of Spring. The featured tree is one of their famous cherries.

Laundry Day: Sold

I painted this from a photo taken by my neighbor when she visited an Afrikan village. She found the people though poor to be very happy with their families, friends, and village life. Somehow this cheerful scene seemed to convey the feelings they expressed.

Tuxedo Cat: Sold

Black and white cats always have such an air of elegance and attitude, their portraits are fun to paint. The high contrast of their color provides natural drama.

Garden Gate

This lovely garden is near our home in West Seattle. The arbor of peach roses and purple clemetis was too tempting to resist, although it was a challenge to simplify all of the textures and colors in the scene.

Satsuma Trio: Sold

These Satsuma oranges had the most beautiful stems and leaves, so I decided to find the right container in which to display them. Then, I couldn't quite bear to eat them, so what else -- a painting! We did eventually enjoy eating them, and of course, they were delicious.

Berries and Tea: Sold

This vintage Bavarian teacup belonged to my Mother. It is a charming old piece, and looked so pretty with a few fresh raspberries -- I just had to paint it. It has a hanger that allows the painting to stand out 3/4" from the wall, a neat look I borrowed from a friend.
